The Rutgers Scarlet Knights saw their Big East tournament stay come to an end in a 65-63 loss to the St. John’s Red Storm.

However, Rutgers has a lot of beef with the officials in the game, as the outcome could have been much different.

Head coach Mike Rice felt as if his players were fouled a couple of times late in the game and did not get the call.

The worst transgression came when a St. John’s player clearly walked with the ball and then stepped out of bounds and the officials did not call either violation.

The lack of a whistle allowed the final seconds to tick off the clock, and did not allow Rutgers a last chance at the game-tying or game-winning basket.

Rutgers managed to make just 13 field goals on the night, and that won’t be anyone, much less Louisville.

Head coach Mike Rice said after the game that he should be in the parking lot instead of a press conference to apologize to fans for their performance.

He said he felt his team quit for the first time this season, and that the hill was just too steep to climb.

Rutgers held a one-point halftime lead and it looked as though they might have a chance to spring a major upset.

However, Pittsburgh simply proved to be too tough in the closing moments, always finding a way to make a play.

The killer came when Ashton Gibbs knocked down a three-pointer with the shot clock expiring to give Pittsburgh a four-point lead in the final minute.

Hill reached a financial settlement with the school and opted to resign rather than draw this thing out.

The university was unahppy with Hill for a number of reasons, most recently his actions at the school’s baseball games.

Hill’s father is the coach of the baseball team, and the basketball coach was seen several times yelling at opposing teams.

The school asked Hill to stop attending baseball games, but the coach ignored those requests.

It was also three more points than he scored in the team’s 25-point loss to the Hoyas earlier in the year.

Mitchell said the team took the game as a personal challenge after being embarassed earlier in the year by the Hoyas.

Rutgers simply came out and played with more intensity with the Hoyas, and you can see the result.
